湖南信息學院是經(jīng)中華人民共和國教育部批準建立的應用型本科大學，隸屬湖南省人民政府管理，位于中國歷史文化名城長沙，坐落于國務院原總理朱镕基的家鄉(xiāng)——長沙經(jīng)濟技術開發(fā)區(qū)毛塘工業(yè)園。學校下設電子信息學院、管理學院、商學院、藝術學院、馬克思主義學院、創(chuàng)新創(chuàng)業(yè)學院、繼續(xù)教育學院、國際學院（籌）等二級學院，開設工學、管理學、經(jīng)濟學、藝術學等多個學科門類，30余個本、?？茖I(yè)，現(xiàn)在校學生近14000人。

師資隊伍。學校按照“管理隊伍精英化、教師隊伍職業(yè)化、服務隊伍專業(yè)化”的要求，建立了以青年博士、教授為代表的“青年教師創(chuàng)新教學團隊”，以海外歸國人才為代表的“海外教學團隊”，以企事業(yè)高管、高級技術人員為代表的“實踐教學團隊”；建立了五級教師教學能力評價制度；構建了現(xiàn)代大學優(yōu)績優(yōu)酬的待遇體系，為建設一支師德高尚、業(yè)務精湛、結構合理的高素質(zhì)、創(chuàng)新型、應用型師資隊伍提供了堅實的保障。
共享機制。學校始終堅持共享發(fā)展理念，開辦了全國高校首所教職工子弟免費學前教育附屬幼兒園；提供了免費拎包居住的精裝修教師公寓；建成了優(yōu)秀教職工、專家海南免費休養(yǎng)基地；實行了“湘信學者”“首席專家”等人才特殊津貼制度；設立了教職工家庭重大事故救助基金；實行了教職工年金制度；建立了教職工、專家“功勛、功臣、功德”“湘信學者”和學生“湘信英才獎學金”及貧困生五級等獎助制度，實現(xiàn)了不讓一名學生因家庭困難而輟學的承諾；開展了對口支持企業(yè)、薄弱學校幫扶工作。

Hunan University of Information Technology (HNUIT) is an applied undergraduate university approved by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China and affiliated with Hunan Provincial People’s Government. The campus, situated in the Maotang Industrial Park, Changsha Economic and Technological Development Zone, enjoys a favorable geographical location and convenient access to all destinations. The university consists of the schools of Electronic Information, Management, Business, Art, Marxism, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Further Education, as well as International School (preparatory). HNUIT offers over 30 full-time undergraduate degree and associate degree programs. Up to now, a comprehensive multi-discipline network, under the structure of engineering, management, economics and arts, has been shaped for its strategic development. The university attracts about 14,000 full-time students from different places across the nation.

The school’s conditions: The campus covers a total area of 666,667 square meters with picturesque scenery including five lakes, five gardens, five bridges and five squares, which is renowned as one of the most beautiful universities in China. The beautiful and smart campus has been filled with clusters of modern and elegant constructions, ranging from academic buildings, library, laboratory, and well-equipped student residential facilities. Also, the university has been hailed as the pioneer in the cultivation of information technology personnel in China’s universities. HNUIT implements the sinicization of school-operating methodology, the internationalization of school education concepts, the globalization of teaching resources, the modernization of teaching methods, the scientific evaluation of teachers and students, and the refinement of management services.
Faculty and staff: HNUIT has established a “young teacher innovation teaching team” represented by young doctors and professors, an “overseas teaching team” represented by overseas returnees, a “practical teaching team” represented by enterprises and senior technical personnel. Moreover, it has established a five-level teachers’ teaching ability evaluation system and built a modern university preferential treatment system for the construction of the high-quality, innovative and applied faculty with teacher’s morality, exquisite workmanship and reasonable structure.
The sharing mechanism: Adhering to the concept of shared development, HNUIT has opened a free preschool education affiliated kindergarten for the children of the faculty and staff, which is pioneering among China’s universities. The university has also provided well-decorated teacher’s apartments and built a free recuperation base in Hainan for excellent faculty. It has also implemented a special allowance system for talents such as “Xiangxin Scholar” and “Chief Expert”, established a major accident rescue fund for faculty and staff, and implemented the faculty and staff annuity system. Furthermore, the university has established an award system to provide excellent students with scholarship and the poverty-stricken students with financial aid, which fulfills the promise of not letting a student drop out of school due to family difficulties.
The school’s quality: The university, guided by the Beidou Open Laboratory of Changsha built in cooperation with the National University of Defense Technology, relying on more than 100 laboratories and training centers supported by the state, provinces and municipalities, and supported by more than 1,000 school-enterprise cooperative enterprises, continues to climb towards high quality and excellence, and a win-win innovative and cooperative education mechanism of school-school, school-government and school-enterprise cooperation has been formed. The school’s reputation: The university has successively won more than 600 honors such as Excellent Grade in the Evaluation on the Level of Personnel Training by the Ministry of Education, Excellent Achievement Award for Safe Campus Construction by the Central Committee for Comprehensive Management of Public Security, the Provincial Advanced Unit of Comprehensive Management, the Provincial Demonstration University, the First Prize for Provincial Teaching Achievement in Higher Education, the Provincial Advanced University of Party Construction, the Provincial Civilized Unit, the Provincial Safe University, the Provincial Demonstration University with Information Campus, Provincial Demonstration and Construction University on College Students’ Employment and Entrepreneurship, and Excellent Grade in School Running among Provincial Private Regular Undergraduate Institutions. The university has been selected by the Provincial Education Department as “A Case of Innovation in the Connotative Development of National Private Colleges and Universities” of the Ministry of Education. In the assessment, evaluation, and comparison of school running organized by Party committees, governments, scientific research institutions, associations, third-party organizations, etc, the university has always maintained the leading position of the same kind of colleges and universities in the whole province and the whole country, has been highly praised by the leaders of the state and all walks of life, and is praised as one of the best campuses in the school spirit of Chinese universities and colleges.
